Florian Demetz is consultant anaesthesiologist at the Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in Munich. His special clinical focuses are cardiac anaesthesia, emergency medicine in adverse environments (alpine air rescue systems) and simulation based postgraduate training systems.

After graduating with a doctorate degree in human medicine from the medical school in Innsbruck (Austria) he began his professional career as a resident at the Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in Munich.

After rotations at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and the Imperial College of Medicine in London he achieved the German board certification in anaesthesiology and intensive care medicine. He is a mountain rescuer certified by the Southtyrolean Mountain Rescue Service and holds a degree in Mountain Medicine.

His scientific interests are high altitude and space physiology.
